K-Meeting on PDE: Analysis, Numerical Methods and Applications
September 11th to 12th, 2025 - Place: Aulario “La Bomba”, Universidad de Cádiz, Cádiz, Spain - Organizers: M. Victoria Redondo Neble, Daniel Acosta Soba, J. Rafael Rodríguez Galván (Dpto. de Matemáticas, Universidad de Cádiz)
Scientific report on the acitivity
This event brings together the closest collaborators of Professor Francisco (Kisko) Guillén González on the occasion of his 60th birthday. It seeks to honor his significant scientific contributions —many of which are closely connected to the University of Cádiz— and to promote the exchange of ideas among colleagues who have accompanied him throughout his research journey. The meeting will provide an opportunity to reflect on the research lines that have guided his distinguished career, particularly in the fields of theoretical and numerical analysis of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs).
Leading international mathematicians will participate in the event. Most of them have collaborated with Professor Guillén González over the years, forgi:ng strong academic and personal relationships that continue to deepen with time. This gathering will not only review their achievements but also reinforce existing collaborations and inspire future research directions.
Specifically, the first part of the meeting will focus on chemotaxis-type PDE models, with particular emphasis on the mathematical modelling of neuroblasts (immature neuronal cells) in the brains of adult mammals. The second part will be dedicated to the theoretical and numerical analysis of other types of PDEs, such as phase-field models and fluid dynamics in oceanic flows.
This meeting is open to the scientific community and any researcher can register through the website https://compmaths.github.io/k-workshop-2025 (until full capacity is reached).
